Here is one of my favorite TED talks of all time, which really changed my life.
The talk was so inspiring that I bought and read his book afterward and it was one of the best books I have ever read in my life.
John Wooden on true success | Video on TED.com
a)What's your general impression of the presentation? What did you like or not?
I love this talk because of its depth. John Wooden has spent his lifetime to reach this conclusion and every single sentence gives a great insight on life. This is something he left for our and future generation and. in that sense, is different from other TED talks, including other great talks.
b)In terms of speaking skills, what are the strengths of the presenter? What does he do well, not only in terms of voice, but anything you notice such as visuals, gestures etc?
He has his own pace of speaking. And he does not use any superficial techniques to make his speech fancy. Yet, because of all the wisdom put into the talk, this talk is beyond the level that could be achieved only by presentation skills. This implies that words from your heart can move people without so much decoration and it is always ideal to talk about what you really care.
c)What are the weaknesses of the presentation? How could it be better? Try to identify at least two or more things.
Having said that his speech is amazing without so much decoration, it could help of course. He was quite old but maybe if I were to do the same talk, I could perhaps stand up and avoid reading from notes by memorizing the most important part. But, considering his age, his presentation was simply great even without these.
